Blackfriars

The neighbourhood of Blackfriars
The neighbourhood has a lively, eclectic group of people. There are lots of artists, professionals, entrepreneurs, and University students. The neighbourhood has some of the best views in the City. The highlight of the City is definitely the famed Blackfriars Bridge. The bridge was built in 1875 and is the oldest wrought iron bowstring bridge still in use today (although closed to cars, pedestrians can still access it as of summer 2014.) There is no better place to watch the sunset than from the bridge overlooking the Thames River.

Blackfriars is also close to Historic Labatt Park and is the World’s Oldest Baseball Grounds and has been in continuous use since 1877.

The schools in the area include Eagle Heights Public School and Jean Sauve French Immersion Public School
Blackfriars in another one of the many hidden gems in the downtown core. The neighbourhood is bordered by Riverside Drive in the South, Oxford Street to the North, Wharncliffe Road to the West and the Thames River to the East. Blackfriars became a Heritage Conservation District in 2014. The architecture of the area ranges from the mid 19th to mid 20th century. From Queen Anne Revival to mid- century Victory homes, Blackfriars has something for everyone.
